Volunteer Information, Pro-Youth/HEART

Volunteers at HEART represent the diversity of our community and help out at HEART in a variety of ways. Volunteers may be relatives of HEART students (parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles, older siblings), junior high and high school students doing community service, friends of HEART staff or students, or any other community member interested in the well-being and education of children. Volunteers are also drawn from our local business and civic communities, and include local corporations that allow community service hours, and other non-profit and civic organizations that have an interest in helping children. This last group has included groups such as the Tulare County District Attorney’s office, the Tulare County Bar Association, local Rotary Clubs, the Kiwanis Club, Soroptimists International, UPS, Redwood High School FBLA, State Farm Insurance, College of the Sequoias, Washington Mutual and Starbucks.

Volunteers may choose to participate as a Program volunteer, working with children at HEART school sites by providing assistance with homework, tutoring, read-aloud, and enrichment activities; as Special Event volunteers, participating in special events such as the annual Dr. Seuss Read-Aloud day; or as an Administrative volunteer, helping in Pro-Youth/HEART’s administrative offices between the hours of 9:00 A.M. and 5:00 P.M., doing anything from filing and data entry to helping with mailings and research.

There are, of course, considerable potential benefits to the volunteer. Volunteering can be one of the most rewarding experiences ever. Getting involved in community life demonstrates responsible citizenship and combined with the efforts of many others, makes our community a better place to live. Please consider choosing HEART as your volunteer commitment -- you'll be making a big difference in the lives of local children.   If you’re interested in volunteering with HEART, you can receive more information and obtain a copy of the Volunteer Application Form by visiting our Pro-Youth website www.proyouthheart.org or by contacting Alyssa Blythe, Pro-Youth/HEART Volunteer Coordinator, at 559.624.5933.
